The 23th issue of the "Newsletter of Environmental, Disaster, and Crisis Management Strategies", published under the auspices of the Postgraduate Program "Environmental, Disaster and Crisis Management Strategies" of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens presents the forest fire occurred in Schino, Corinthia on May 19, 2021 and extended to the northern part of Geraneia, affecting part of the territory of the Attica Region. The issue is the result of collaboration among a large and interdisciplinary team of the National and Kapodistrian University and the Harokopian University of Athens.
The data composing the issue entitled "The May 19, 2021 Schinos [Greece] forest fire" was gathered after field research, use and processing of remote sensing data (satellite images and drone imagery), and gathering of geological, geomorphological and geotectonic data, but also the elements of flora and fauna of the fire-affected area and come to 10 conclusions about the catastrophic event, its evolution and consequences, drawing attention to short- and medium-term catastrophic effects.
